Full story

On February 19, 2026, Sequel Med Tech and Senseonics announced "full availability" of the twiist Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) System integrated with the Eversense 365 CGM system across the U.S.[1] The two companies said the combination was "now being used in real-world care settings" and was "broadly available for people with type 1 diabetes in the U.S."[1]

What "available" meant in the release

The release used three phrasings for the same news: "full availability" across the U.S. in its first paragraph, "widely available" in its subheading and "broadly available" in its closing paragraph.[1] The subheading and closing paragraph tied the availability to people with type 1 diabetes.[1] The release said twiist is cleared for people ages six and up with type 1 diabetes and is available with a prescription.[1] It did not mention insurance coverage or prices, so we have not added any.

The Eversense description in the same release covers adults. Senseonics said its Eversense systems are indicated for persons with diabetes age 18 and older.[1]

How the two devices work together

Eversense 365 is an implantable CGM. A small sensor sits completely under the skin and talks to a smart transmitter worn over it, and the transmitter sends glucose data to a phone app every 5 minutes.[1] Senseonics said the system measures glucose for up to 365 days, and a health care provider performs the sensor insertion and removal.[1] Fingerstick calibration is still required, mainly once a week after day 14.[1]

twiist adjusts basal insulin delivery automatically with its twiist Loop algorithm, which the release said is based on Tidepool Loop, using real-time CGM data.[1] The companies called twiist the first AID system compatible with Eversense 365.[1] Sequel said twiist users can choose between two compatible CGMs: Eversense 365 or Abbott's FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor.[1]

How the launch got here

On January 12, 2026, Senseonics listed "first commercial patients" using Sequel's twiist insulin delivery system with Eversense 365 compatibility.[2] The same release said Senseonics had executed agreements with Ascensia Diabetes Care to take over commercialization and distribution of Eversense in the U.S., beginning January 1, 2026.[2] Its chief executive said the company expected "the launch of the twiist system with full Eversense compatibility" during 2026.[2]

About five weeks after the February release, Sequel's newsroom listed a March 24, 2026 announcement titled "Sequel Brings twiist Nationwide." Its summary described the "full launch of twiist AID system powered by Tidepool" for type 1 diabetes management.[3] We could not open the full text of that announcement, so this post relies only on the headline and summary shown in the newsroom listing.[3]

What this means for you

Sequel's site says twiist is for people with type 1 diabetes, 6 years of age and above, is available with a prescription and is sold only in the U.S.[3] Senseonics said the Eversense systems are prescription devices and that patients should talk to their health care provider to learn more.[1] The release pointed readers to twiist.com/safety and eversensediabetes.com/safety-info for safety information.[1] If you are thinking about changing your pump or CGM, talk to your care team or pharmacist.
